Now is a great time for collecting and pressing foliage with which to decorate your home. Pressing leaves and flowers is easy, and all you need is a little patience and a few items from around the house. This simple plexiglass accent is a great way to display pressed flora in a modern and contemporary way. Use large leaves to fill the frame or create a collection of more delicate flowers and petals.

Things You’ll Need

1/16-inch thick Plexiglass

Pressed leaves

Square wood dowel, 2 inches by 3 inches

Square wood dowel, 1/8 inch by 1/2 inch

Strong glue

1/8-inch iron-on edge trim tape

Step 1
Be sure to press the leaves and flowers in advance. Once they are ready to use, cut the wooden dowel 4 inches longer than the length of the plexiglass. You will need two lengths of the larger wooden dowel piece and one length of the smaller, thinner dowel.
Step 2
Peel back the protective plastic from the plexiglass. From now on, you need to be careful not to scratch the surface.
Step 3
Sandwich your leaves and flowers between the two layers of plexiglass. Make sure there are no rogue hairs or dirt trapped between the layers with your foliage and then line up the edges.
Step 4
Use the iron-on edging tape to hold the plexiglass sheets together. Press the iron along the trim keeping the edges lined up with the edges of the plexiglass. Trim the ends and set aside.
Tip
If you can't find 1/18-inch edging tape you can cut your own from a thicker roll. Just use a craft knife and a metal ruler to cut the size needed.
Step 5
Using strong adhesive, glue the smaller dowel in between the two larger pieces along what will be the base of the stand.
Step 6
Hold the base together and then leave until the adhesive is dry. At this point you could check that your plexiglass and foliage sandwich slides into the gap easily.
Step 7
Slide the plexiglass frame into the base and display your new accessory in your home.
