Things You’ll Need

  • Distilled white vinegar

  • Baking soda

  • Paper towels

  • Scrub sponge

Step 1

Soak 4 to 6 paper towels in vinegar.

Roll the vinegar soaked paper towels and press them up under the inside rim of your toilet. Keep pressing them in until they stay in place. Leave for 10 to 20 minutes. Remove and discard.

Add about 1 tablespoon of baking soda to a damp scrub sponge.

The baking soda will fizz a little when it hits the area where the vinegar was placed. This fizzing will help to loosen the hard water deposits and remove the stains. Keep adding a little more baking soda to your sponge as you make your way around the rim of the toilet.
